The Bruery Wee Heavy Coconuts Release & Chronology:24, Frucht: Apricot and Mélange #14

imageFrom The Bruery:

We have a penchant for playing with nuts and bourbon barrel-aged beers around here. And today, wee have a new heavy one to hoist your way. Wee Heavy Coconuts is a special draft-only release featuring a rich, malt-forward wee heavy ale aged in bourbon barrels. After 12 months of barrel-aging, we added walnuts, cinnamon and a massive amount of coconut to it. (Perhaps too much coconut?) It’s quite the treat. In fact, if Scotland was a tropical island, it might just taste like this.

Come on in and have a glass. Half-growler fills are available for 2016 card-carrying Society members.

We’re not stopping at the firkin this Friday. We also have the public draft and bottle releases of three limited treats: Chronology:24, Frucht: Apricot and Mélange #14. Check it out:

Chronology:24 is the fourth and final installment in a two-year long, four-part experiment with barrels and time. We brewed a beer rich and malty with undertones of brown sugar, toffee and toasted French bread and set it to age in bourbon barrels. Every six months, we took a quarter of the barrels, blended them and bottled them. This fourth bottling represents the flavors imparted in the base beer after 24 months of barrel aging.

Frucht is our series of fruited Berliner Weisse-style beers. Known for a tart flavor profile and traditionally low ABV, our German-style wheat beer gains even more funky notes and natural earthy-woodiness from its fermentation in the large oak foeder vessel. Each installment in the series will feature a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch. This installment has apricots added, which escalates the juicy, racy and palate-cleansing prowess of the base beer.

Last but not least is Mélange #14. Our Mélange series is a chance to roll out the barrels, roll up our sleeves and explore flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. French for "blend", this mélange fuses the mature character of some of our most vintage barrels of barleywine and old ale with the dark depth of our imperial stouts, including both Tuesday-themed releases and Share This. This mélange is one for all, with rich, complex notes and the signature kiss of oak.

Bottles will also be available on TheBrueryStore.com. Mélange #14 will see limited distribution.
